Monsieur Notebooks 2 – The Rematch!
You may have seen the review we posted about the Monsieur
Leather Notebooks, which on the whole was pretty good. One thing we did say
however was that we thought that the fountain pen paper wasn’t quite up to the
job.
Since then we’ve had a very nice letter from Tom Strickland
of Monsieur Leather Notebooks, with a very nice hand-written letter, obviously
using a fountain pen, kudos for that!
Attached with the letter we a couple of samples of paper,
that Monsieur are thinking of moving to, allowing them to cope much better with
wetter fountain pens. The paper in question is Royal Executive Bond 80gsm, so
how did it hold up?
Firstly the nemesis of the first test – the Visconti Homo
Sapiens, and then the Lamy 2000 Medium and Conway Stewart. All of which held up very well
indeed, with no visible feathering and the bleed through on the other side was
minimal at worst.
Next up the 100gsm – using the same pens, which strangely
sometimes isn’t actually better. Not on this occasion though, it held up
superbly.
So in our humble opinion if Monsieur Leather Notebooks
switch to this Royal Executive Bond Paper then they’ll have a pretty unbeatable
product!
