But what does a convertor do?

Ink Convertors for Fountain Pens

People these days aren’t quite so familiar with fountain pens as they used to be, and sometimes people look a little confused when they buy one and we say would you like a convertor with it.

More expensive pens tend to have convertors with them, for less expensive pens you have to buy one separately.

But what does a convertor do?
Does it celebrate you conversion to fountain pens? Sadly not

What it actually does it allow your fountain pen to take ink from a bottle. Most fountain pens these days use cartridges, they’re very good and usually have a large range of colours. In addition to this they’re clean, tidy and pretty darn convenient, you can carry one around in your pocket with no trouble at all.

Some people prefer to use ink from a bottle, there are 2 basic reasons for this – you have a much wider range of colours and that it works out quite a lot cheaper.

Various makes and models of ink convertors have varying types of filling mechanisms. Twist, pull, push, squeeze etc.

If you’re having trouble using your convertor- our instructional video may be just the ticket!
