Caught in the talons of the Pilot Falcon?

After getting to grips some of the Omas flexible nibs, it occurred to us that there was another similarly flexible nibbed pen that we had in stock, so we’d thought we’d show you it!

It is the Pilot Falcon Fountain Pen.

The Falcon comes in a few different colours of metal casing, including a Burgundy, Bronze, Black and Sapphire. With an overall very high build standard, is it the best looking pen in the world? No probably not, but definitely built to withstand anything you can through at it. This being said, at first we were unsure whether this was worth the near £200 price tag, when there are similarly priced pens that are equally delectable.

Can the nib redeem it?

Pilot tell us that technically their nibs, (the one we tried out was a Soft Medium), are Soft rather then flexible, so what’s the difference?

Well to start with the nib does have a rather curious shape, falcon-esque you could say, like a bird of preys beak (see what they’ve done there…). To write with, it does indeed feel ‘soft’, you can get a good deal of variation in thickness of line with the flex that this nib gives you. You would however have to learn to live with the noise, whilst it’s not scratchy in a writing sense, it does produce a rather spectacular tone – a bit like something from the BBC effects library.

So, overall, definitely a pen we could get on with quite well with a great little nib.

Do please take a look at this video, we cannot claim it we us unfortunately, but it is truly mesmerizing.
